Droll Squirrel

My favorite part of our backyard is our little Bird Oasis. We've got several feeders, dense evergreen shrubs and a bird bath. Many, many feathered friends call our yard a little slice of Heaven. We also have one incredibly strong squirrel (both physically strong and strong willed) that calls our spot home. Not one of our tube feeders or suet feeders could deter that little grey ball of fun.

Then I heard about Droll Yankees Squirrel-Proof Feeders! Well, well! Decided to invest in one (they're not cheep). Felt rather smug and admittedly a bit guilty (I do love a determined soul) while hanging the new buffet out back . . .sorry Mr. Squirrel. You'll have to dine elsewhere.

Alas, my squirrel is quite the gifted creature. He has outsmarted the Droll Yankees and it would appear that he has had the last laugh.

Memorial Day Weekend

We took advantage of the three day weekend to visit with the Singers. They moved last summer from Nashville, TN to Newark, Delaware. Christopher and Alex get along great (it's actually a little frightening how much they are like mini John and Phil), Michael and Anna are just so fun to be around and Tux and Adam became good buddies. We went for a hike, then a visit to the Learning Station and Iron Hill Brew Pub on Saturday. Sunday, Christopher and John joined us for a bike ride followed by some homemade ice cream from a local farm. That night we had a cookout with Mel and Rex Donnelly, fellow Hokies and APO brothers, who live in Newark as well.

Thanks John and Sharon for a great visit!

Ski Trip 2007

We are hoping that this year's trip to Breckenridge, CO will be our last as a family of three!! May actually be our last family ski trip for a few years until Kate is old enough to join in the fun. This year we enjoyed having our friends, the Vannettes, join us from Canada for the week.

CIS Fingerprinting, Again

Phil and I trekked to Charlotte, NC to have our fingerprints done for Citizenship and Immigration Services . . .again. The prints we took in January 2006 will be expiring soon . . .Let's hope we don't need to visit a third time for Kate's adoption!

You'll Be Such An Amazing Big Brother!

Alex is beyond excited about being a big brother! I can't wait to see him shine in his new role!

It's Been A While

The processing of dossiers has been moving along at a rather slow pace the past two months (similar to my postings!). As we get closer to the beginning of June I've been trying to avoid the various rumor sites; I don't want any expectations either way. The CCAA is currently processing dossiers logged in after Nov. 1, 2005. I'd love it if they were able to process a full week's worth! We'll just have to wait and see!
